Patpong Night Market & Nightlife Guide (2026)

Google Maps lists Patpong Night Market as open daily 18:00–01:00 (3.7 stars from 20,083 reviews, checked 2026-10-31). Visitor photos on its Google listing show covered lanes of clothes, bags, T-shirts, phone accessories and souvenirs, with food stalls selling grilled skewers, fruit and roti.

Bargaining. Stall prices are generally open to negotiation. A simple routine works:

• Ask the price first and agree it before anything is wrapped.
• Make a lower offer, stay friendly, and settle somewhere in between.
• If you can't agree, say thank you and move on; similar items are usually a few stalls away.
• Carry small notes so you are not waiting for change.

Branded goods. Treat brand-name bags, watches and clothes as unbranded goods and pay accordingly. Copies of branded goods can also cause problems at customs at home.

The photos below were posted on the market's Google Maps listing by visitors and are credited to them. They show the entrance sign, the covered stall lanes and the food stalls.

Patpong is best known for its go-go bars: stage bars with dancers, where you pay for drinks rather than a ticket. They sit along both Patpong 1 and Patpong 2, mostly opening around 19:00–20:00 and running into the early morning. The bars below are listed as operational on Google Maps (checked 2026-10-31); hours and ratings are Google's, and the review counts are small for most of them.

For a drink without a stage show, Old Other Office Bar on Patpong 2 has pool and darts in its Google Maps name (Mon closed; Tue–Thu, Sun 17:00–02:00; Fri–Sat 17:00–03:00; rated 4.8 from 68 reviews).

Before you sit down: ask the price of a drink, and check each bill as it comes rather than running a tab all night. Bars are adult venues and may check ID; The Stranger Bar's own website, for example, gives a minimum age of 20.

The Patpong Museum on Patpong 2 is marked permanently closed on Google Maps, and its old web address no longer shows museum information (both checked 2026-10-31). Some older travel guides still list it, so don't build an evening around it.

The market's food stalls are the quick option. For a seat and a menu, these places are on Patpong 2, Silom Soi 4 or nearby Surawong Road, and all are listed as operational:

Foodland and its Took Lae Dee counter are listed as open 24 hours, which helps after the bars close.

Silom Soi 4, the next lane east of Patpong 2, has bars for a gay crowd. Two of them are listed as operational on Google Maps and describe themselves on their own websites:

• The Balcony Pub calls itself a gay pub and restaurant on Silom Soi 4, with karaoke and live music (own website).
• The Stranger Bar runs drag shows nightly. Its website lists show times of 21:30, 22:30, 23:50 and 01:00 ("may vary") and an entrance fee of ฿460 Sunday–Thursday and ฿500 Friday–Saturday, each including two drink tickets (checked 2026-10-31).

Telephone Pub, which older guides list on Soi 4, is marked permanently closed on Google Maps.

• BTS Sala Daeng (Silom Line) is the closest station, about 290 m in a straight line from the market's map pin, around 5 minutes on foot.
• MRT Si Lom (Blue Line) is about 670 m away, around 11 minutes on foot.
• By taxi: show the driver พัฒน์พงศ์ (Patpong), Silom. Traffic on Silom and Surawong roads is slow in the evening, so the train is usually faster.

Patpong is central, lit and busy until late. The problems people report are mostly about money, not violence:

• Touts with show menus. People on the street offering upstairs shows are the usual source of surprise bills. Walk past, and only enter bars you have chosen yourself.
• Check the bill. Ask drink prices before you order and pay per round. If a bill looks wrong, ask for the menu before paying.
• Crowds. The market lanes are narrow. Keep your phone and wallet in a front pocket or a closed bag.
• Getting back. Use the BTS or MRT while they run, or a metered taxi or ride-hailing app afterwards, and skip drivers who won't use the meter.
